A bit about the outlet

Like the other Newcastle pubs, this is not at a station and does not have the ‘railway theme’. It has a unique layout – the 2 bars are on the first floor and in the basement! No bar on the ground floor - only the toilets, beer cellar and offices.

The pub has constant acclaim as one of the best bars in the city. It plays up-to-the-minute music and is recognised for its musical brilliance.

The upstairs bar is dark and cosy with a very welcoming feel. The bar servery and back bar are very attractively designed.

The bar gets very crowded most nights and the atmosphere is fantastic

The basement bar is vaulted and low-ceilinged. It has a small stage for bands and this is THE 'entry level' venue for new bands in the area - we've been on the glide path of Arctic Monkeys, Maximo Park, Futureheads and many more! It is one of very few cellar bars in the city. The basement attracts a younger group of people, generally.

Opening hours

            Sunday to Thursday           12.00 – 2.30 am

            Friday + Saturday               12.00 – 3.30 am

LOOK! we've got 2 new windows in our first floor bar! That makes 4 in total. Now, customers can look due east and see the glittering lights of Collingwood Street way below them .....

Cash machine

There is a cash machine for customers' use in the upper bar, and for drinks orders over £10.00 you can pay upstairs using all major credit and debit cards.
